Well for one the new ones are 10th gen CPU but it also looks very different in the photo. Look at the thin bezels around the screen and compare to above
Hey man, just out of curiosity how can you tell which year's model this is? (What specs differences are there?)
Thanks!
Evilmagus is right - the late 2019 switch to the 1065G7 Ice Lake processor (actually, all of the G0x processors) adds the Iris Graphics (high end, onboard GPU) to the lineup, plus a small bump in CPU horsepower. Even more, the model slimmed down quite a bit - it's adorably small for a 13.3" screen. They also switched out the touchpad, dumping the synaptics drivers for MS precision. All accounts is that it's on par with the best now. The keyboard is also very comfortable to type on for an ultrabook (I don't think this is an upgrade from the early 2019 8th gen).
I got bitten by this, and bought this gen, thinking it was the latest one.
It's i7, 256GB, 16GB Ram, and FHD with privacy screen.
The issues so far
The touch pad doesn't work as it should, register once every 6-7 presses
Sound only from left speaker
The screen has sureview and has weird yellow tint plus if you look closely has diamond shape grid pattern, more pronounced when you stop scrolling. Additionally even with privacy screen off, the viewing angles are screwed. My 7 year old Toshiba with horrible spec has better screen.
I'm returning, and I don't care if they charge 15%.

Return the damn laptop. Besides the reasons you stated, "sure view "leads to significant deterioration in screen quality even when sure view is not activated. Make sure you list the issues with the screen as the primary reason for return and list all the secondary conditions as well. So, the return is not because you changed your mind but it was not per expectations.

If you have sound only from the left speaker then that alone should qualify you for no restocking fee assuming there are actually 2 speakers. Don't for getting to outline all the reasons, particularly the speaker as the reason for return. Also send an email to keep the document trail.

They didn't waive the restocking fee for me because I returned an unopened laptop ( so technically there was no problem with it)

Returned my laptop, even after the tech troubleshooting over the phone, the problems persisted. HP customer care sent me return label and I pack and sent laptop back. I received full refund.
I'm again looking for Spectre, hopefully will find a decent deal of latest gen.
