Great price. I own and love. Check city for rebate opportunities, mine gives 50% rebate for smart sprinkler.
It isn't that hard, all you needed is dig a trench, lay down the pipes, glue in tee, screw in the sprinkler head, connect other end to existing water source. Big box store does sell kit for that. I used to do what you did, manually turn on those, last year I decided to dig and lay down pipe and connector for the sprinkler head, tap into existing hose-bib and done. The most important is planning. Google search on how to lay out a sprinkler system, plenty of tutor out there.

Do you have any recommendation for a DIY irrigation system to go with this? Or would I need a professional system to begin with? Sorry I am clueless. Right now I have 2 Orbit timers with 2 actuators each, and hoses run along the edges of the lawn to about 6 sprinklers.

Check your local Home Depot's first because I found a hunter hydrawise 12 zone for $50 it's probably a real long shot but it's worth a try.

Depends on your yard and how many tree roots you have, but I used a pressure washer to dig the trench for the water lines. There are some youtube videos out there. It worked well for me. I also ran lines under a deck and in the landscaping. Im using the rachio gen1 and I really like it.
