Download the official Windows 10 media creation tool from Microsoft. Reinstall a clean version. Done.
way better than cloning, recovery images, etc.
Download Dell support and assist if you want to have Dell reinstall any dell specific drivers or firmwares. it also auto detects your service tag and model, no thought required. (Optional since Windows Update will pick up any drivers, but good if u like Dell software or need firmwares)
Run Windows update for everything else.
MS has pretty much made reinstall simple nowadays.

It's not the hardware installation that I'm ignorant about.... it's the software transfer that I have not a clue about.
If you have a drive that is smaller or the same size as this and a PC that can plug both drives in at once then Samsung's software let's you seamlessly copy your main drive to this one, unplug your old drive once it's done copying and you're good to go.

Ok will look into it. Thanks. Amazon asks 100$ for the service and I've upgraded ram before, but not a hard drive...so just trying to save some money. My dell 17 7000 is coming with a regular hard drive (I know I know, not ideal) , but I got a great deal on it and figured I could just upgrade for performance optimization....didn't think it through enough to realize that it's more complex than a ram upgrade.
Or simpler way is spend another 5 to 10 and buy a usb3 to sata cable to plug this drive in and clone before swapping out.
Not sure if you've ever used an SSD. But if you havent, you are in for an eye opening experience.
