On Amazon, I found a 40% Subscribe and Save coupon on product page of Purina Pro Plan Veterinary Diets Probiotics Cat Supplement, Fortiflora Feline Nutritional Supplement - 30 ct. Box. Listed at $28.99, $11.60 came off as "coupon savings" and then $1.45 was deducted separately for "Subscribe and Save," making the final cost $15.94 before tax. Very hard to find this product for that price.

I know the "animal digest" used in Fortiflora is not great for cats over time, but this product has been crucial in keeping my cat from starving himself as he has Chronic Kidney Disease, which can be extremely nauseating for cats (so the flavor enhancer helps tempt him and then the probiotic helps him with his gi issues...I use only a 1/4 of a packet in his wet food and he's been thriving since I started it (was using Mercola and Jarrow pet probiotics previously and they are great but they do not act as a flavor enhancer (which is what makes Fortiflora more toxic over time but can be life-saver for some cats if the cat is off its food completely). For those with cats that have CKD, Omega 3 fish oil (I use Nordic Naturals pet) has been found in peer reviewed clinical research to be helpful and I've added that as well to his diet and he's thriving. Sorry to babble, but maybe this is helpful to someone reading...

Great price and very helpful info. My CKD cat was enticed by this for a while but recently she's not interested anymore. I will look into the fish oil, thanks for mentioning it.

For those with cats suffering with CKD check into Epakitin. We had a cat who came back from the edge of death and his quality of life improved greatly with the FortiFlora and Epakitin. In our case we enjoyed 9 more months of what appeared to be a healthy playful cat.

To this day we keep our cats on both of these meds since renal failure is so common in cats.

Thanks for the post, OP. it gets expensive and this helps.

That 40% coupon is just for first time subscribe and save pet orders per Amazon acct. If you've already used that coupon before (and it's been around for a long time now) you won't see it again.

So sorry, I didn't know about the restriction of it being a one time coupon in product category when I posted. Also sorry for all the unclosed parentheses in original post, I'm out and about and Can't edit presently). Hope a few people got lucky and were able to use the coupon

Wanted to add one more recommendation: There is one large-ish clinical study that seemed to prove that low phosphorous and NOT low protein in diets was what was useful in staving off the CKD so some cats actually do better on a normal protein, low phosphorous diet, it just depends (the medicated diets by royal canin, etc. are all low protein and low phos. and the low protein can make cats waste away). As some of you who have kidney diseased cats know, one size does not fit all with these cats so one cat can do well on one thing and another on another thing. This website has a wealth of info and lists of wet and dry formulas with phosphorous and protein amounts mentioned: http://www.felinecrf.org/diet_and_nutrition.htm

Best probiotic to use (for humans or pets) is Visbiome. Visbiome is the original VSL3 formula. Order on the Visbiome website - it is around $55 with shipping, and you get 60 capsules. Give your pet 1/2 capsule each day on top of food. It's tasteless and safe for animals. Check out the NIH & PubMed articles on how these have been proven to give better results than the standard probiotic options and increase t-cell counts, even better than those in the refrigerated section of the grocery store or pharmacy. Highly recommend Visbiome.

Interesting, I didn't see the coupon on the multi-packs but maybe because I'd already clipped the coupon on the single and scheduled the Subscribe and Save order? I would have loved to have gotten the multi at 40% off...I might call Amazon and ask if I can cancel the order and add the multi and still get the coupon savings.

Tangentially, i wonder if the savings is even more if you schedule five items for the same Subscribe and Save date...

Something like this is exactly what I had in mind when I made my last comment. However, since someone else commented that the 40% off also applies to the 3-pack, there's still opportunity for more saving. And if it applies to the 6-pack... woot
