Just set up one of these today. The speaker is not for music, if you understand and accept that it's a great unique form factor Alexa device.

Used it for playing podcasts and news and it's fine. But it's no Echo Dot 3 sound quality and for sure not an Echo with its much bigger speaker.

For $12 it's worth it: $25 (regular price) you would be better off with an Echo Dot.

Even at the regular price, I would say it's still a good buy because of the minimalistic look to it. The purpose of this device isn't just to have an Alexa device or a music player. Its purpose is to fit into areas where a traditional echo device just wouldn't look right. For instance, who wants a big echo dot in their bathroom with a long cable so that it can accidentally get knocked over and fall in the sink or toilet? It fits perfectly in a bathroom and is out of the way. Doesn't call a lot of attention to itself. Guests don't have to wonder why you got this big piece of technology just sitting by your soap dispenser, etc.

Also, it's good for areas like laundry rooms and other places where you just want something out of the way so you can have smart home control or find out the weather or time.

People keep comparing these to the dot and other speakers, but I think this is meant to be in its own category. And if you're married, it's a good device to have in certain areas of the home without your wife being upset about having to see Echos everywhere, thinking you're making her home look tacky or something.

Thanks for the feedback. I like the on-outlet form factor, but have about 3 extra echo dots laying around, so probably makes sense to find a place for them instead of buying this.

Exactly. You would be better off spending the $12 on buying a hanger kit they sell vs getting a new device.

OMG it worked for me but I don't want to turn into one the the folks here with a closet full of this stuff. Must be strong. Oh man and they tempted me with a proximity switch for this gadget on the way out. Must be strong!
Why do I think the folks who don't need them the code works for? Darn you Amazon.
