Entirely different. This requires one to scan the page by taking a photo of it with your phone. The page is categorized based on symbols or filling in scantron bubbles on the page. The files can then be accessed via dropbox, evernote, etc. (not OneNote apparently). The issues are:

The ink disappears in heat [amazon.com] for example if you leave it in your car or live in a warm climate like FL.
The ink doesn't always erase without using a damp cloth [amazon.com]. It's not that convenient to carry around a damp cloth to use everytime one needs to correct a mistake.
The ink smears with left-handed use [amazon.com].
The pages are coated in plastic [amazon.com] so it feels like writing on a whiteboard [amazon.com] rather than paper.
Writing on the page leaves indentations [amazon.com] that cause gaps in writing over time like this [amazon.com].
The pages wear out [amazon.com] after several months of use.
Reusable paper saves trees but then plastic frixion pens don't last very long [amazon.com] and aren't refilable so now you're producing -- and spending more on -- plastic waste where one could be recycling paper. I'm not sure which leaves a greater carbon footprint.
Using the Rocketbook app actually takes longer than doing it yourself [amazon.com] with any scanning app and sharing the document to dropbox or evernote.
It usually costs $24 (not $34).
If you need to scan the page by taking a photo of it with your phone, how is it any better than a regular notebook?

In case I sound harsh, my wife has one of these and she never uses it. Great in theory, terrible in practice.

I have the executive sized notebook.

I'm pretty pleased with it, the software does OCR which does a bad job with my handwriting, but also puts the image of the page as a PDF or PNG.

Works really easily with OneNote, which I have it going to work and personal one note notebooks.

The pilot pens have an eraser as well, which actually works unlike those old blue papermate pens from the 90's.

I am a lefty so my biggest worry was smearing, which does happen if I go too quick, it takes about .5 seconds for the ink to dry, it's not instant, but not too long either. So far I am very pleased with it, the wiping down is WAY easier than the microwave version.

I have just the generic one, the Fusion is too nuanced for me, I don't need the calendar and task management pieces as I have outlook and Planner for my Kanban cards and can tie a one-note entry directly to it

I have the Everlasting fusion I got it on sale during the holidays $25 on Amazon. fusion seems to be the best as it has diff types of pages like lines , that was a must for me. I haven't tried this new world of note taking yet as it stores all your notes on the cloud , I don't know if I can use my phone at school to view notes yet .

Does this compare to using an iPad with apple pencil or is it for a totally different market?

Totally different. It's for dedicated pen and paper users looking for greater organization and shareability, imo

Received this for Christmas. Played around with it a little. Seems great. Easy to write and erase. The integration for emailing and saving to cloud locations is fantastic.

Need more time with it, but definitely recommended, especially at this price.
