I lift weights on a regular basis for years, and I still use 5 and even 3 pound weights occasionally. Weighted arm circles for one are really tough with much more than 5 pounds. Just depends on what you're doing, and how many reps you're doing.
These are great for new year's resolutions that end by March.
Same price at Amazon but ships in 1 to 2 days. https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00UM41HL0/

What good is 5 pounds? It's way too light even for beginners. Hard pass on this I'm afraid.

Actually It's very good for starters to get the right form with weights & also good for warmups.

I started Lifting the Bowflex 552s this year. I don't remember if I started at 5lbs or 10lbs, but I did a few warmups just to get my form down. Next couple days I felt like I was run over by a truck it hurt so bad. If you go from not doing any exercise to even the lightest bit it will hurt you . Same thing with sit ups, did about 10 my first night and next day I felt like my stomach was ripped out.
