I've been waiting on this deal to pop up again to add to my ASUS Mesh system. Newegg has the ASUS RT-AC1750 router on sale for $69.99 after coupon code EMCDGDF23.
From what I've read this is a RT-AC68U in a different form factor. You can flash the RT-AC68U Merlin & probably FreshTomato too. Although I have not figure out which CPU version of FreshTomato does one suppose to use.
Anybody knows what CPU does this ASUS RT-AC1750 B1 comes with ?
Anyway, Can't beat $70 for a RT-AC68U with two years of warranty at this time. Tempted to get one myself.
Thinking about getting this. I currently have an RT-N66R and was thinking of using this one as the main router while turning the old one an AP for more coverage in the house.

The original one with NO USB 3.0 = ASUS RT-AC66U B1
This version with the front USB 3.0 = ASUS RT-AC68U
It definitely does Merlin. I just haven't narrow down which of the FreshTomato versions it would work on. -NG or non -NG.
U can only get the TMobile AC68U used now. So this is not a bad price with 2 years of warranty & newer chips & new form factor.
Good to know, seems no reason to get an AC68U then. Although nobody uses 2.4Ghz 600Mhz TurboQAM anyways, so AC1750 and AC1900 are essentially equivalent to me.

Even the old device still gets flashed with the same RT-AC68U FW under Merlin.

I think this is misinformation, if it doesnt have a front USB 3.0 its not a B1 model at all, it's an original Ac66u that is a different type of cpu and not aimesh compatible.
As far as the ac66u B1 being identical to an ac68u, I think the CPU is better (1000 MHz vs 800 MHz) but the actual wifi radio is arguably less range. I am personally running one for my main router and happy with it but also shopping a rt-ac86u. If that hits $115 new or sub $100 for refurb I'm a buyer.
I have like 4 T-Mobile TM-AC1900 which I got varying from $40-$60. I reflashed them to Merlin FW and they work solid as a rock. Takes a little work but well worth it.
What's the best stable Tomato FW people are using on these? I like Tomato because of the flexible parental control rules I can create to limit my kids' usage. Asus has some limited predefined profiles only

Does this actually support AC1900 if flashed to Merlin?

Hard to spend more than $40 that the TM-AC1900 went for many times in the past.

Looks like $30 off code is indeed dead.
