Tried their 7" shorts last sale for $50. Thought they would feel more premium but I was disappointed. Their waistband is normal elastic vs lululemon which has a unique smooth premium feel. The color also looked very different from the site (I chose black but it came out looking dark heather) and the model they used was super tall which gave the impression that the shorts were shorter.
I successfully used a $10 off promo code "IMBACK10" on quantity 2 of the 1/4 zips. I tried it on quantity 1 of the 1/4 zips and it did not work. Hope others can use the code.
I bought a bunch of workout gear from various brands last year, and the GoldFusion Reign short and long sleeves were my favorites, and maintained a premium feel and ventilation without having to wear super-perforated shirts like my UnderArmours.
I like the Mako shorts, but the fancy stitching on the exterior started to fray pretty badly after 6 months (I bought 3 shorts, so 60 washes each). I'm sure any non-brute with any clue of how to do laundry would know how to avoid this problem, though. e.g., you probably could put them in with the delicate stuff.
I have not tried the Versatility line, and have picked up a few of those shorts this year, but since the GoldFusion shirts were on sale, I couldn't pass that up.
In terms of sizing, they do seem to run a bit small/snug, even for workout gear. At 5'7" 140lbs 13% bf, the S was still plenty snug, and I had to buy M's when I got to 160lbs 16% bf, and I consider myself very boring/average in terms of proportions. The fit guide must have been updated, as it's steering me towards L now, so maybe they got feedback that their fit was a bit on the tight side?
Ah yes, the Rhone AMA. I remember watching that train wreck unfold. Brand new reddit accounts (created literally minutes before posting) were popping out of the woodwork to wildly heap praise on the brand and toss out absurd softball questions.
And maybe even worse: they photoshopped their AMA announcement post to indicate it had received over 50k upvotes + 25k comments, which is an order of magnitude higher than the all-time top posts on that subreddit. Then they posted that pic on their Instagram[imgur.com].

Looks to me like a bunch of people on the internet with no lives and nothing but time on their hands.
Well, yes, it did turn into a bit of a witch hunt. But the community was seriously pissed off. Rhone basically commandeered the sub for questionable marketing purposes, and they obviously took these redditors for a bunch of idiots. The subsequent feeding frenzy was the inevitable consequence.

Either way, great shirts, decent shorts.
I tried on the items in the cart and got:
"IMBACK10 discount code isn't valid for the items in your cart"
So.. maybe not valid for samples? I have not tested it out thoroughly, but it sounds like YMMV.
