Good brand, good reputation, and good price. Just not a fan of flat bottom (basket) filter coffee makers, preferring cone. Thumbs up, however.

This is the absolute best coffee maker you can get for the price. I have this model and the steel carafe model. If both were the same price i prefer the steel over glass carafe but at 60 bucks it's a no brainier for glass.

I don't get it. This looks like an average, regular coffee maker like Mr. Coffee. Why is this so good?

Good water head design and water heats up to ~200f. Cheap coffee makers dont get hot enough. Also has a great warranty.

I got this coffee maker for the same price a year and a half ago thanks to Slickdeals. I love it and I'm a complete coffee snob with over 10 different ways to make coffee at home. I was brewing daily with Chemex but this is much less work with a very similar results. Highly recommend.

Hmmm..., if this is so great, why are reviews all over the place?

I use a Melitta pour over. Why is this coffee maker or any other maker better? A pour over is simple, less parts and less parts to clean. Just curious as I may be missing out.

Because you don't have to sit there and babysit. It does the initial Bloom phase and then pauses and then Brews the rest without any work from you other than turning it on.

What about cleaning and maintenance? What's that like?

I rinse the glass container after use just like I would my Chemex.

Depending on size, Chemex fits the brewer...could use that if you prefer Chemex filters, or as 2nd carafe for when family and friends are over.

Interesting thought but I don't see how a Chemex filter would fit in this. This has a flat base

Depending on water quality, you might run a descale cycle with some vinegar. I use water from our RO system, so I rarely need to descale. But there's not much other than that...I have the older 1800 model that's been used daily for a few years, and brew temp is still good. I've just had to buy a replacement carafe a couple times due to any stupidity.
