As a former lifeguard/swim instructor and someone who has had his own kids in swim classes, everyone advises against using these. At all. They are terrible swim aids, and they are terrible as far as security for just a flotation aid.

100% correct. Never use a floatation device(unless you are on a boat or a situation that requires a lifejacket), it gives children false sense of confidence which makes them think they can swim. They cannot and when they find themself in water without floaties they will drown. Drownings are #1 accidental death for children under 4. Take swimming lessons early and teach your kids to swim!
