Factory Blemished so [edit]no-LSA on compressors but full warranty[/edit] applies. As always with Direct Tools, expect a long wait to ship, but the price is right.
Is this faster to inflate tires than the Ryobi inflator?
Depends. If the tank is already full it would inflate a tire faster. If the tank is empty, probably not although it does fill pretty quick with 2 octane batteries
Does a cordless compressor really work that well? I imagine it would burn through batteries pretty quick.
I wouldn't recommend an 18v at least.
If all you do is fill your car tires this might be ok, but I would get a portable tire inflator that hooks up to your car battery or the cig lighter over the Ridgid, like this one for example.
If you're going to be using air tools like an impact wrench or a air hammer, get something with at least 4cfm at 90psi, bigger the tank the less time it will be running while you're using it, or waiting for it to refill. I've heard oiled is better than oil free, but it probably depends on your use case.
1.0 scfm at 90 psi is pretty respectable for a tiny compressor like this, should be able to keep up with your small nailers no problem but don't expect it to run more power hungry air tools - it is simply not made for that.
This is definitely a good compressor. I use it to fill tires and it is great for nail-gun usage as well. Not meant for air-powered tools. Great portable compressor to move around with, put air in the trailer tires, etc. Battery use is pretty good. I love my compressor.

I actually ordered this earlier today before it made it onto slickdeals. I plan to occasionally use it for tires (saw a video test on youtube of it infalating 35x12.5R18 tires from 10psi-25psi and it did great at an avg of 2min/tire) and use it with small air tools for quick work (instead of pulling out the Ridgid 6gal).
I have both of the Ryobi 18V inflators (the small pistol one and the inflator/deflator combo) and the Vivair compressor you linked to (that hooks directly to the car battery and the car must be running):
- the Vivair is beyond impressive. I've had a lot of tire air inflators over the years and this is in a different league (and it isn't even their best one!). I used it on my 35x12.5R15 tires and it made short work of them.
- The small pistol ryobi is good for topping off a tire or using for bicycles, hand trucks, wheelbarrows, or letting my little nephew play with it. For a car tire I wouldn't use it as my primary but for a quick top off or emergency sure.
- The ryobi inflator/deflator combo did much better than I thought it would, I was able to run it non stop without issues to inflate 4x normal car tires from 10psi to 35psi without issue and it was quicker than I thought it would be. Not fast but relatively quick. It is loud but that is to be expected with a small unit. The new updated unit is smaller, better controls, and more accurate gauge.
All battery packs: last only a few years, are expensive to replace, and may be impossible to replace as the years go by (manufacturer may discontinue production).

it's a good thing ridgid replaces them for free when you buy them with kits!
