I was browsing through Amazon's Year-End Deals and came across the rOtring 500 (model 502505N) for $7.89 with free prime shipping

I've been curious about these, but honestly don't do enough writing to justify getting one. This seems like an all-time low price for this pencil. Hope this helps someone out!

Which do you prefer, of the 3? This would be my first rotring, so wondering if I should pull the trigger.

I already have then Pentel Graphgear 1000.

Plastic body with a metal grip, if you'd like all metal then you need the 600. Good price for the lighter weight model though.

The tips of these are somewhat sensitive, but I love them. I have an 800 which is also fine.

My favorite overall is the 2mm lead holder. I use a 4b super soft lead and have to sharpen constantly, but it an absolute joy to use.

It depends on your hand size, weight preference, and whether or not you like the feel of the retractable tip **That's what she said** I don't have a 500 yet, only 600 and 800. They are very similar in weight, but the 800 has a retractable tip. These are heavier pencils and to me, the weight makes them feel like premium tools. I have bigger hands, so I can't write for long periods with my Rotrings because they're a little too thin for my hands. For drawing and drafting, I find myself going back to the 600. The tip on the 800 has an ever so slight give to it that the 600 does not. The all metal angled grips feel completely different than the GG1000 rounded rubber + metal grips. Better functional grip, but less comfortable overall to me.

If I'm writing, I actually prefer to use my Kuru Toga, Pentel Orenz (0.2mm), or GG500 (0.3mm).

Just ordered the Pentel Grapgear 1000, how do you like it. Retractable tip feels ok?

$13.49 for the rOtring 600 is available and cheaper than the updated 500 price.
