It's a gimmick that sells. Casual eats the protein, get a nice water pump, says "damn, maybe this protein really is the truth, my last protein didn't do that".
And buys it again

It in fact, does not. There's no actual third party testing that agrees to this.
It's just supplement manufacturers doing what they do best: sell supplements. Whatever they can do to get you to take more of their stuff, they'll do it.
For context ON gold standard is 79% protein (24g protein/30.2g serving) compared to this 32g/52g= 62%... it's loaded with fillers and considering all the ON deals lately I wouldn't touch this stuff. And I actually lift
The current ON gold deal is 42g of pure protein per dollar. Not a negligible difference
The "pump" is referring to that feeling you get when you lift and your muscles burn and expand. Creatine is supposed to help get more water into the muscles, but I wouldn't know if it worked that fast. For you, don't bother with this or any other supplements. If you think they'll motivate you, then by all means grab a few here and there, but the number one thing you can do right now is get your diet in check. It's not fun, but it will help you out the most right now. You can take all the protein shakes and lift as much as you want, but if your diet is still garbage you'll look like, well, garbage. Focus on your diet, hit 1-2 10 minute walks a day, and try to find a good program (lifting regimen) that works for you, not for the gym bro's who will be here soon to tell you what to do.
Cliff Notes: Protein and Creatine are the only supplements that are widely proven to work for most people.
