Just get a gel memory foam topper and call it a day.

You'll thank yourself if you ever have to move it.

Not to mention, longer springs wear out faster.
You do realize the Sealy/Serta mattresses of the world are sourced from the same types of manufacturers, right?

The tag might extend your warranty a few months out from when it comes off the boat, but the internal components are basically the same and it's going to cost just as much to dispose of those as it would these... flawed point there.

IKEA does their own, but their spring mattresses aren't meant to last more than 4 years and aren't comfortable to begin with.

If you're going to go for longevity, the best you can do is a high density foam mattress base with a disposable memory foam topper. You can find 8" or 10" memory foam queens on Amazon for $200 shipped and just replace the first glued down layer with a gel topper when it starts feeling/smelling worn out.
I got some of the distressed Zinus from.the last deal, and they're fine. 8" seems just too thin maybe, but the mattress is just alright, not great. If this was 10 or 12 inch I would maybe give it a go

I don't think the spring mattresses have fiberglass, only the memory foam ones? No voc's according to https://support.zinus.com/hc/en-u...certified-

What's wrong with 8? I'm not big or heavy my current 8 is perfect. I guess 10 or 12 is if you weigh like 200+?

Only if the springs are tuned to similar tension.

Otherwise, longer springs are just elongated shorter springs (same number of coils over a longer length), so they have more give and wear out faster.

It won't bottom out with a heavier person, but it will sure sag after a couple years.

You ideally want a lot of coils or sections where the coils are different configurations, but most people just go to memory foam at this point.

I really wonder how some of this stuff is profitable. $58 for a (small) mattress shipped to your door not to mention some of the distressed stuff under $50 for a 6" queen. I know companies get great shipping rates, but what the heck are the margins here, and there is no upsell for accessories or anything with these kinds of online sales.

Mattresses of this nature are extremely cheap to manufacture.

They have expiration dates due to use and are under strict inspection (read the tag on one of them when you get a chance), so they rarely deviate in design.

Nearly everyone on the planet uses more than one over the course of their lifetime, so it's very easy to justify having say... 10 years worth of supplies in bulk.

As far as shipping goes, that's a no-brainer when methods have improved (a lot of mattresses come vacuum packed in tight rolls these days) and supply chains have been widened for companies like Amazon.

A $58 mattress might only cost them $10 tops from start to finish.

It will cost you more to dump it. Go try a mattress If you need a daily driver. These cheap ones are more often misses than hits. Maybe good for a guest bedroom but not worth the risk for a daily.
