Not a bad deal. Original retail is 199. I must say it is for a model that , if I'm not mistaken is being replaced very soon by an updated version. Regardless, that does not negate the quality of this reel. It's the model below the ci4+ that is usually around 229.

Super smooth retrieve and butter smooth drag. Very lightweight. Have a ci4+ 2500 paired to a st Croix avid x 7' m.

You are correct. This has been replaced by the FL version. Still a really solid deal on a great reel.

Anything with more than 30% off for a Shimano reel being discontinued is a good enough price to buy it. I wouldn't say it's slick but if I were looking for a new reel in this price range, I'd pick this up. Not worth waiting to hope to pick one up at $15 lower than this though...but that would be a super good deal IF found at $120, which I'm sure exists from time to time in local shops.

Not a bad deal at all. This is about what it is for Shimano VIP pricing. OP, put the price and Cabelas in the title.

This is the 2015 model (FK), there is a new 2019 model now (FL). The FL has micro gears, carbon drag, larger spool front to back, and other slight upgrades.

Even still, a 2015 Shimano is better than pretty much any reel out besides maybe Daiwa. And Shimanos rarely go on sale.

I bought one last go around when you could get them for a little less than this price. It has been a great reel and one of the smoothest I own.

Just curious, can anyone compare this Stradic reel to the Pflueger President XT?

I just got one of those Okuma Baitfeeder ABF-30 reels; what is the advantage of this over that? Is it just an overall quality thing?

A bait feeder spinning reel like the okuma has the added bait feeder function, this is just a regular spinning reel that's high quality.

Until they run out of stock . I don't think Shimano is still making them . Odd there were no breaks on Christmas . Would have been the perfect time to clear up stock .

These are absolutely fantastic reels, whether or not it's an 'old' model. The Ci4+ above this is just lightweight, that's all. Stradics are fantastic. If you are a freshwater angler, these will simply never fail on you. If saltwater angler, just maintain properly and rinse. Butter smooth and strong.

But don't pair with a crap rod, or you're just throwing away your money on a good reel.
