I'd feel more comfortable with getting it at Best Buy for only $14 more.

Great camera kit for everyday use and wont break your budget. Although I'm a Nikon shooter, the Canon colors out of camera (no processing) are very pleasing. For those that bash the kit 18-55 IS II lens, don't..it's a very good lense at a ideal length. Yes, a prime will be faster and likely sharper, but then it's a fixed focal length. The Canon primes can be had new for sub $100. if that's needed.
Agree that the Bestbuy deal is a better way to go.

Cameras on cell phones putting a hit on high end cameras. Just like digital photography killed Kodak. Much easier to carry around. Still, bought my wife one a while back. Uses none of the bells and whistles. Takes basic photos only. Still she's happy with it for the speed!
What? Smartphones have never put a dent in high end cameras. You might be accurate with cheepo p&s, but that segment's long focal length options are alive and well. A smartphone is good to take along anywhere, but it's a very limited too.

Digital did not kill Kodak..it was market competition that passed them. Kodak was the first company to release a digital camera, others followed. They have licensed their camera technology to Kodak Pixpro and they are producing some excellent cameras the past 7 years. Interesting in that Kodak film continues to grow as people realize that film can and does produce a very appealing look. Something for everyone.

iPhone camera FTW! Can't beat it, swipe left on the home screen and BAM your cameras there. I don't see no one carry around big cameras like the one on the ad anymore. Not even at kid recitals lol!
Yeah but what if someone wants professional photos taken (headshot for eg.). Just buy this vs pay the studio?

I have this camera, it is very good for a basic user like me. Takes great photos. That being said, the MSRP is over inflated, this deal is so-so and can be had around this price +/- $15 fairly regularly.

Professional photos and professional camera equipment are not one in the same, just like owning a high-end guitar wouldn't make me Jimi Hendrix.

Even with that being said, this is not high-end gear. If someone has a need for professional photos, go to a pro in this case.

Glad to know Kodak still in the hunt. So Ektachrome is back I take it? I thought Fuji was last man standing. As I posted my wife is in the p&s club but she keeps plugging away with her Canon EOS Rebel T6i.
