I purchased an ED500 DataVac 120 Volt Electric Duster [newegg.com] for $50 around 6 years ago and I couldn't be happier with it.
Only complain that I have is it can be too powerful for delicate equipment and you really need to be careful around fragile cable connections and shoddy or decrepit solder work/connections.
I probably saved at least $200 so far by not purchasing disposable canned air dusters. Then again, you can't get high off an Electric Duster or at least you have to be pretty creative, desperate and determined to do so

It's because people get high with these. I'm a paramedic, and I once ran a call for a girl that was using duster in her car and drove out of the parking lot, into a cemetary, and ran over about 35 headstones until she beached her Accord on one of those large sepulchre type things. When we finally got to her, about 15 of these canisters fell out. She didn't remember anything and thought she had gotten home. Ahhhh, memories.
Do you know what brand and/or model you have? Sounds like an excellent device.
I think I saw this on intervention, so sad.

100% wrong. I use it everyday in my chemistry lab. I have been using this brand for last 3 yrs. no complaints.
It was probably the data vac or mestroploian duster. I've had one for years.
