I highly recommend this book. Here's my story: I read (and re-read) this book when I was a teenager and, yes, it changed my life for the better, dramatically so. What's different about this book is that it doesn't treat money as many of us and as many money gurus do, as some abstract currency that is external to your life, but instead helps you reconceptualize money as something for which you have TRADED YOUR LIFE ENERGY. That concept changes the calculus of working and spending considerably. This book also helps make clear that financial independence is not a pipe dream; it is much more within reach than you might imagine, and does not require getting rich quick to achieve. Admitting to the possibility of achieving one's own financial independence also changes the calculus dramatically (most people work and spend as if they'll be working and spending their entire lives...and so they do). Unlike other personal finance books, this book is NOT about how to make a lot of money; it's about changing your relationship with money, and honing in on your values. I can't recommend it enough. Yes, the book is hippy dippy, and a bit outdated, but look past that, because the substance is there. And, yes, after digesting this book in high school, I achieved financial independence in my early 30s. If that's not worth $2, and some hours of reading and reflection, I don't know what is.
I've been following Dave Ramsey stuff for the past 5 years, that combined with this book will change your life.

Dave Ramsey teaches you how to get out of debt and plan for your future.

This book shows you that you don't need as much as you think you need in order to live life the way you want.

Combine both and you have a clear path to success!

The key to financial independence is to save more money than you spend and more importantly, make more money than you need to pay your bills.

These books may help someone with spending problems, but budgeting can't fix disproportionate cost of living/inflation expenses to income...

Marry someone rich.

Exactly. When your expenditures with no debt and very little spending outweigh your income what do you do then? No way out of a situation like thar other than to work 24/7 or rob a bank.

I had this problem using the app- I could only get the sample. I logged into Amazon via browser and was able to purchase for $1.99.
