Upgraded to this from a Yamaha HTR-5280 that lasted me 20 years ---- my old receiver was still running strong, just didn't have HDMI switching. Picked this up a month ago for $379.99+tax and worth every penny. Cheers!

Darn, I just started to shop for a receiver with Dolby Atmos and generally when I shop I look everywhere for clearance units and also online deals. I think this post might have saved me some time because I really can't see anything out there with this good of specs in this price range.

Would be tough to beat. This unit is essentially a rebadged RX-A780 AVENTAGE that sells for $650. I've been waiting a couple weeks knowing this would be back on sale today.

Man I got lucky. I have been holding back between going back to AV receiver or getting sound bar systems. Waited a week and saw the discount this morning and figure it was time to just get it.

I just started looking for receiver for recently bought klipsch 5.1 and possibility of adding .2 atmos. Was thinking between little higher Denon AVR-3500H at Amazon for $550 or this at Costco. Price dropped and now very tempted to pull the plug. Looks decent specs, will save me some $$ and I get Costco support. This has lesser hdmi input but rest looks comparative.
Anyone used this with Klipsch 5.1 and any feedback ?

Will this thing smoke my Andrew Jones set? Truly though, coming from an older (Denon AVR-S500BT) receiver, will I hear a difference on "entry" level speakers like AJ? Thanks!

Any differences at all vs the aventage?

In this case, no. If you look at Yamaha's website for both receivers, the MSRP is the same.
https://usa.yamaha.com/products/a...index.html vs https://usa.yamaha.com/products/a...index.html

I compared the listed specs and they are the same as well.

Thanks. In for 1 to replace my almost 10 year old Sony STR-DN1010. Mostly for the 4K and network connectivity.

Just the extra center foot if you believe the difference in the photos, but I've seen folks report that the 7850 also has the extra center foot. The sample I checked at Costco a couple weeks ago did not (to my recollection) have it, but I've not pulled the trigger on a purchase yet.

How does it compare to Denon X1500H? I was thinking about buying Denon X1500H to go with my JBL 530s.

I ordered the amazon renewed from Woot. It came packaged like new. So far Seems to work fine even though there are far too many buttons and settings for me to figure out. I wish the remote was backlit but I imagine that I'll probably get some harmony remote setup to control everything sometime in the near future.

Im pretty sure it still has a 1yr manufacturer's warranty.

n=1 but I previously bought a "renewed" (looked new) from amazon and it had a bad ARC port. Ended up having to haggle them for a return because I first hooked it 3 months after purchase date. YMMV, I'm sure most are just fine.

I haven't been able to confirm the manufacturer's warranty. All I've found is a 90 day warranty from Amazon and Woot.

I'd love to save the money, but I'm still leaning towards the Costco deal for peace of mind.
