This seems to be the normal "sale" price. Chances are if you wanted one you would have already bought it at this price (or cheaper).

Also, many people think that this generation isn't as good as the last one, as things like the glossy screen aren't as pleasant to look at as the matte version.

Lastly, I'm annoyed that the two things I wanted (physical side buttons and adjustable color temperature) weren't included.
I like loading books with Calibre tho

Need to make sure to cancel the subscription after 3 months. Too much a hassle. Might as well cancel it once you buy.

Question for that auto-renew kindle unlimited

if I buy this under my account and credit card, that free kindle unlimited 3 month will bind to my credit card.
can I make it as "gift" when placing order, and Amazon will ask my friend register their credit card while login kindle 1st time and using it for 3 month trial free?

thx

Why did someone TD this? Am I missing something?
Because some time in the distant past it was once cheaper, so this price is no longer "slick" according to some very picky people.

It's a pretty good price. I've been waiting for a sale to upgrade mine, so I'm in for one.

Agree. I'm buying this for my niece and I was shocked that they didn't offer different sizes yet

Actually, both you and the gift recipient can get the 3 months. Your friend will get an email after registering the Kindle, but they don't have to redeem the Kindle unlimited.

"Kindle Unlimited Gifting Information:

• If you purchase the Kindle + Kindle Unlimited subscription as a gift by selecting "Add a Gift Receipt" during checkout, both you and the gift recipient can receive a free 3-month Kindle Unlimited subscription. Your subscription will begin automatically upon purchase. Your gift recipient will receive an email upon registering their Kindle with instructions on how to redeem their own free 3-month Kindle Unlimited subscription (no obligation to redeem)."

I got a basic Kindle I can trade in to bring it down to 60. Worth the upgrade?

Yes. I traded in a second(?) Generation Kindle and still have a 7th generation. I bought for the backlight which I enjoy. I have already taken advantage of the waterproof feature by reading in the pool on vacation. The battery life is very, very good. That was a nice surprise. I got $5 for my 2nd gen and 25% off which made it around $64 for me. I'm reading a lot more which was my goal.

EDIT. my only gripe is USB micro. wish it was C. I wouldn't be surprised to see that on the next gen considering the new fire tablets are C.
