They're just thicker so they can withstand getting poked and prodded by the stuff inside the bag and out. However, these aren't very airtight and not the best for long-term freezer storage. Vacuum sealed bags are the way to go for that. I do like these bags for general storage and for packing snacks for the kids because they're less likely to shred these up like a regular zip-seal bag.

I've been making my way through a box of these and have noticed that they are not airtight and wouldn't trust them with liquids. Other than that I do find the type of slide lock more convenient.

I have so many different sizes of freezer bags because of all the deals for 3 packs on here, I probably could go years without buying more.

If you have a Kroger near you. These are a Buy 6, and Save item this week.

It is cheaper at Kroger. These are around .7 a bag, vs Kroger at .6 a bag. These also have the non freezer and gallon at same/similar price.

Because freezer bags are made from a thicker plastic, the materials tend to not break down as fast so the protection on food lasts longer, to help prevent freezer burn on food.

And most users like ExtraDan are just assholes by posting meaningless comments.

I'll take it a little further and give google results to you "Freezer bags are slightly thicker plastic, and more forgiving of sharp or pointy foods (like meat with protruding bones). ... Freezer bags tend to be made from a heavier material."

Thank you for being supportive and patient with me and letting me know what freezer bags do and how they work!
