And without a built-in ethernet port...for me that's a no go anymore.

If the Walmart Motile laptops can fit an ethernet port, so could this Lenovo. I'd expect one at this price point.

Just for discussion's sake (aside from the fact that most laptop users don't need an ethernet port), which Motile are you comparing this too?

This laptop is quite slim and rather light:
WxDxH: 12.57" x 7.77" x 0.48-0.55"; 319.3mm x 197.4mm x 12.2-14.2mm
Starting at 1.2 kg / 2.64 lb

A simple solution would be - https://www.lenovo.com/us/en/acce...4X90S91831

I've got the same port on my latitude and its thicker than the base of this ultrabook. There are thinner pivoting ethernet ports but they're pretty flimsy. If you already need a cable then I don't see a dongle being a problem.

They only make two models with identical dimensions AFAIK, as discussed here: https://slickdeals.net/f/13798283. It's 2.5 lbs and 16.8mm thick.

Most people definitely won't need one, but at a normal laptop price point of ~$1K why leave it out if technically feasible? It's not an expensive add-in, but for sure really only matters to some people like me who'd rather not have to carry around a dongle.

Because mechanically, it won't fit. While the difference between 16.8 and 14.2 (at the hinges) is a big difference, and it prohibits an ethernet port. Mechanically, an ethernet port is larger than a full-sized HDMI. Price is irrelevant.
