I verified that this works with gift cards at Chipotle, I see no reason it wouldn't work anywhere else.
Can you explain how it works with gift cards at Chipotle? I thought cashapp only took the savings of the portion applied to the cash balance through the app.

Cash app recently made a lot of changes to nerf the benefits.
The boosts are now personalized and they will remove the boosts that you use frequently.
Also beginning last week, each friday boosts get reset (if not removed). So if it's a locked/unlocked boost it will reset back to locked with 0 progress.

For example, if you buy a $50 gift card, Chipotle charges you $50 but Cashapp only deducts $45 from your balance.
Cash App is not for everybody. You tie your purchase history to their card, and the time required to acquire the card is discouraging; no instant gratification. Deals have been getting worse, but also, boosts are retroactive and apply post-transaction. You must apply the correct boost, load the full money, spent the exact amount you intended, and finally withdraw to get your funds back, or spend them on the card.
From experience, Cash App disables certain boosts if their AI suspects you're going to be using it "abusively" (e.g: on the hour, every hour more than twice in a row)
SlickDeals is a good place to remind people to purchase gift cards since they don't do level 3 (line-item) payment processing of transactions for most places yet. But if they do, best believe they would exclude gift cards the first time they get a chance.
