Does it look like it's worth $80? the pieces are about $1 each. Really that's all you can go by because it is a good price. These educational sets are never on sale. These have rare pieces you won't find in other sets and even Bricklink only has one seller, currently being sold for $128. There are no used ones being sold. LEGO.com doesn't even list this set on their website. Probably the onlyset that has those Duplo Technic pieces.

Also if you're considering the value part of the $80 goes into the instructions, which is not your regular lego instruction but rather a class guide for teachers. The guide can be downloaded online I believe but again the technic pieces are pretty rare if not unique. Now about the lego education classes, personally I'd always prefer buying sets to sending kid to class, if the parents are willing to invest more time.

I've got a bunch of old duplo with the ratcheting screwdrivers like this and it's great. Kids loved it. Kind of like Technic for younger kids.
