I haven't had this version, but in general they are good--definitely a step above other chains. I don't think they are necessarily worth the regular price, but I'll usually get a special if they have one.
What I'm curious about is how "spicy" the red sauce is.
This place has a pretty excellent quality/price ratio even at regular price. It would be hard to make a bad pizza there, as I've put some pretty random combinations together in the past, and it's all been delicious. Definitely making a trip to get this pizza, maybe two trips to try both...

While I didn't get the $5 special, I did get a MOD pizza today and they accidentally dolloped the top of it with their spicy sauce. It's surely going to be hot to most people.

Thanks. I may grab one for myself, but I won't get a second for the kids.
According to their online ordering:
"Lucia - $5 Flash MOD
Special price, this week only! Try the Lucia for just $5 (sorry, no modifications but don't worry…vegetarians can skip the pepperoni). Features spicy red sauce, mozzarella, ricotta, pepperoni, and fresh basil."

Only been to one once, crust was too thin for my liking. Felt like eating a giant cracker with pizza toppings on it.
Did I just go on a bad day or order the wrong thing or is it always like that?
Yes it is a cracker style thin pizza crust. That's is the basic difference between Mod and Blaze, otherwise similar BYO pizza places, I like both. I like that Blaze has spicy red sauce regularly but I've been curious about the heat of this calabrian sauce since they announced the pizza earlier in the month. Good time to try it.
Try this $5 pizza yesterday. I ordered it online and was there on time 15m later to pickup. However, the pizza is cold like it was baked half hour ago. My previous experience with mod has been good before this time...

For garlic lovers, it's great because you can have them add garlic to the sauce then load the top with roasted garlic cloves.

Only if you pay full price. -_-
