I do not recommend these headphones. I bought them for slightly cheaper during last year's Black Friday sale. They are exceptionally tight for those of us with big heads. And when I mean tight, I mean "hear your own blood pumping" tight.

But the real dealbreaker here is the cable itself. No matter what you do, no matter how much you position yourself, you're going to hear the "noise" of the cable moving around. I wore these for less than an hour before deciding to send these back.

Not sure if it was just me, but I had difficulty adding the product to my cart (Chrome, FireFox, even IE, and mobile Chrome). I eventually was able to add it to my cart by hovering over the product on the headphones overview page and selecting "Quickview +". From there, I was able to click "Add to Cart" and eventually check out. The direct link to get to your cart is https://www.jbl.com/cart (because that link wasn't working from the product page either).

I can able to add in Chrome. Just close the current session and clear the cache and try with new browser session.

Does "on-ear" mean it doesn't completely go around the ear?

JBL website lists it for 80. Amazon shows retail of 40.

I got these when they were on sale around Black Friday. You are correct, they sit on your ears, instead of around them, which IMO makes them uncomfortable to wear for longer than a short period of time.

Here is my 2 cents:
I bought this one last time the deal was up; however, I did not like it. The pressure on your ears from the earpads are too much. You can feel it pushing against your ears.

It's a $15 headset, so you should not expect much from it.

Are these $15 headphones they claim are worth $80 to make it seem like a better deal than it actually is?

they're probably 30-40 dollar headphones that are selling for 15. Aside from being small, they're pretty decent. My daughter has a pair I picked up last time these got marked down, and they sound good enough. Just not for bigger heads. I wear a 7 1/2 hat size, and these are just awful.
