I do own it and it works extremely well at what it does. Colors and brightness match what's on the screen - there are tons of videos out there if you don't believe me.
Price is an irrelevant argument - there is nothing else on the market that does what this box does. So you either pay it or you don't. That's your choice.
But to say it doesn't work, that's just not true. Anything that's on screen will be replicated with your lights (except for DV and HDR10+ but those are edge cases)/

You have to know the content that you like to watch. If you like to watch content that is very vibrant with colors - for example, Guardians of the galaxy 2 is an extremely colorful movie - then this will do that quite well.
What I have found is that 95% of what I watch on YouTube or TV or Netflix isn't all that vividly colored and so I almost never turn the box on.
I don't regret buying it but I also barely use it.
