Be very careful ordering from Newegg. I have been getting stuff from them for a decade and this past year the delivery times are unpredictable. Tracking may say 5-12 day delivery and it could show up anywhere from 3 days - 15 days. Plus they just drop anything off at your door with no signature or even a knock. I've been shocked opening my door to a new CPU just sitting on my doorstep in the morning up for grabs to any passer by.
The TCL 6 Series/R625 2019 is very similar to the TCL 6 Series/R617 2018. The R625 has a more premium design and a much better local dimming feature, but the R617 is brighter and has better reflection handling. The R625 has a higher backlight flicker frequency, but a slower response time, and motion doesn't look as good.
The new model is better for movies/HDR but worse for sports. My primary use is movies.
I'm looking for a good 50-55" TV and would love a new TCL 6. I think I'll wait til this one is at Costco under $500. They currently have last year's 55R613 for $500.
Hmm.. the Vizio M-series M507-G1 is $400 at BestBuy. That's not bad. (My living room TV is a 65" Vizio PQ 2018... this is a second TV for a den, but I want it to be nearly as good for movies.. though I kind of don't want to double-down on Vizio, and I love the Roku platform.)
Hard sell when the 65"( from last year) is $499...and they seem to be VERY similar in performance
I guess if you didn't have the room for a 65"....
Right... I really wish there were a bigger discount for the 55" vs 65", but this is for a smaller room where a 65" wouldn't work. A 50" might even be ideal for me as the 55" is a tight squeeze, but seems like there are fewer good 50" models.
The spec sheet on this TV doesn't indicate the picture quality you're getting. Though, it's a good solid TV for the price. I love mine for the price I paid for it ($400 after Ebay bucks back and coupon)
I haven't really kept up to date on all the new tech, but didn't I read that the 2020 TLC 6 Series would be adopting Mini-Led for around the current price points. If so, you would be crazy to buy one of these '18/'19 models.

They claim it will be same price point, but that just means $900 to $1000 for 65" when they first come out during early summer months. Probably no lower than $700 65" on Black Friday/December/early next year. The urlhasbeenblocked $590 65"/ $480 55" deal was probably because professional reviewers said Hisense h9F and other competitors were a little better for higher nits brightness, better motion handling for sports, and overall score; and the 2018 tcl was also better for sports and fast motion, peak hdr/dv brightness. You will have wait up to a year for price drops no lower than $600 for 55" and $700 for 65" esp. if reviews are great. Also Best buy would have to make another 15% off tcl coupon like 2- 3 weeks ago to have any significant price reduction.

So if you have no other 50+" tv at home & in a rush to have something now then this maybe worth it, if you really need qled. (But 2018 non qled tcl r617, 615,613 model may be smarter choice if u can get one without DSE --lower price and/or bigger 65" screen.)

Those are 65" TVs, and they're the 2018 version.
This is 55" and is the 2019 model.
