I got the black tube feeder last year. The birds are heavy and knock it around easily, so I recommend really securing it. They drop a lot of seeds, and many of the millet in particular sprouted. It was like a little wheat field was in my yard and it wasn't until midsummer did I realize the birds were the cause.

Put some plastic bags underneath to prevent it from germinating.
Unless your tube feeder has feeding spots that are spring loaded to close based on weight or some other type of effective squirrel guard you will spend your feeder cost savings on extra seed to feed the squirrels.
Yesterday I picked up the blue squirrel proof tube feed for 6.99 at lowes. I was on clearance down from 24 I believe. Spring loaded perches. But I put sunflower seeds so I wonder if cardinals are too heavy? I also have the red barn type from last year. Mine has spring loaded tray that you can set to different tensions.
