I bought this last year when it was clearanced and have used it tons. It's a great vac. Much better than the Craftsman I was using. I suggest getting the vac bags for easy cleanup and better filtering. This thing really sucks.

Stanley SL18402-8B shopvac. Features: Powerful 6 peak HP motor, 8 gallon stainless steel tank with EZ drain, heavy duty wheels and casters, blower port, 10 feet of electric cord and plenty of accessories for any project, wet or dry!

The Stanley stainless steel 8 Gallon wet dry vacuum features a 6 HP heavy-duty motor for industry leading performance, providing maximum suction for heavy-duty pickup. Great for both wet and dry pickups, this heavy duty blower port instantly converts the wet dry vacuum into a blower. It features a strong handle for easy carrying, large on/off switch with water-resistant design for safe and quick access, convenient, built-in cord wrap, accessory storage that keep your tools organized and provide ease of movement in any direction. It's built-in tank drain makes draining easy. Stanley wet dry vacuums provide superior performance in any environment. This unit includes a 1-year limited warranty. Extended warranties available. Accessories include 1-7/8 in. x 6 ft. Flexible Hose, 2 Extension Wands, Crevice Nozzle, Utility Nozzle, Floor Nozzle, Foam Filter, Cloth Filter With Clamp Ring.

Nice vac, short cord with no ground which is not good for a tool with metal case. I replaced the cord with one from a longer 3 prong extension cord.

Got few years ago when it was $37. Great deal. Have it set up in line with distance collector for table saw, etc. In workshop. Love it.

Bought 2 of these a few years ago as well. Love them. Plenty of power. I use them with my table saw, miter saw, router, it's a little underpowered for my planer (DW734) but I think that has a lot to do with the tapered design. It just doesn't move enough air. Great static pressure, just not terribly high CFM. I connect it anyways and then just clean up after with the wand attachment. The onboard storage for the extensions and attachments makes organization easy. And the hose can be connected to the outlet side to double as a blower. The base is removable if you just want to mount the can somewhere.

Not really. It's pretty par for the course on shop vacs. It was definitely bigger than my old shop vac with a 1 1/4" hose. I get less stuff stuck in it. Actually I don't think I've gotten anything stuck in it. If I'm attacking a large pile of sawdust I just go slow. I've used it to clean up my garage floor many times. I have various screws or stones (garage floor is cracked) or small wood cutoffs. I've sucked up tile pieces from a bathroom remodel, and I've shoved it down my bubbler to clear out a leaf/dirt blockage.

Also I think the port is 2 1/4" or 2 1/2", so you could use a bigger hose with it. I have a 2 1/2" flex hose from rockler that I use when connecting it to my table saw. But then I also have the 2 1/4" small port flex hose adapter from rockler also, that fits a little loose but seats deeper than the 2 1/2.

Its brother, the 10 gal/6.0 version without the big handle is even cheaper at $30.

You can also leave the handle off. You attach it during setup. I have one on and one off. It makes no difference in function. But the no handle is easier to get under my table saw, etc. The motor housing has a small handle I can use when I need to pick it up.

It is double insulated. Your mod *likely* won't hurt things but the manufacturer does say to not introduce a ground.
