Metro by T-Mobile Two iPhone 7 + 1 month service w/ 1 line port in for $170 or less

Just checking different carriers for deals earlier and saw this on Metro website:

"Switch and get an iPhone 7 for $49.99. Then add a second line
and get another iPhone 7 on us. Plus sales tax and activation fee.
ID validation required."

Depending on the store and how they allow you to stack the discount, it will cost you $170+tax in the worst case scenario for 2 iPhone 7s.

$90 for 2 lines + $30 activation fees + $49.99 for 1 phone + 2nd phone for free = $169.99

If they allow you to go with the $80 for 2 lines plan or if the 2 lines for $65 is applicable, it will bring the price even lower to $160 or $145. If everything works out, it seems like a pretty good iPhone 7 deal.

(Not sure if it is still the case, but Metro phones are carrier locked initially but they used to automatically unlock after 6 months)

Q1. anyone know what is the exact model of i phone 7 this is ?

Q2. i am looking to get 4 ip7 as well (with 2 visible # port ins)

my calculations are:
120 for plan with 4 numbers
60 for activation
100 for 2 paid iphones @50 each
0 for 2 free iphones
total 280.

now the wild card..what is the tax paid ? specifically in California.

$90 for 2 lines + $30 activation fees + $49.99 for 1 phone = $169.99

$169 is for 2 phones not 1. Please correct.

Technically speaking, they only charge for 1 phone, that's why I put $49.99 for 1 phone (since I am listing what they charge you for). I guess I can make it more clear by adding 2nd phone free.

Not a bad deal if you want metro service.

Would these phones work on TMobile without being unlocked?

I had MetroPCS device from last year deal and i used only 1 month active service and didn't port out nor paid beyond 1 month, device got unlocked automatically after 180 days.

Though not sure, if they have changed the rules now.

But this is good for Trade-in Costco offers

After checking the T-Mobile coverage map, I think this may be an option for us. Plan pricing isn't too bad, and the 2 phones for $50 is a good deal.

I have not ever owned an iPhone. I currently have a Pixel 2 XL (and my wife has a Pixel 2), how much of a downgrade would this phone be?

Your other option is buy the iPhones and sell them, activating the service afterwards on your Pixels.

The iPhone 7 is still a excellent phone today and the Metro/T-Mo network rivals At&t coverage in most of the country. That said, this 7 lacks T-Mo's newest bands, 66 and 71 and those are getting more widely used, but still a very good deal. Note: for the best pricing, get the phone at a corporate store.

Add tax on retail price because they won't give you without that even if it's applicable only in couple of states. Then add harassment from employee by adding insurance and other stuff. Oh, I forgot, this is only possible if they have it in stock.
