I recall the past CK ones having ~ 90% modal fabric.

This looks like a made for Costco cotton/modal blend? Anyone with knowledge?

This is cheap Costco version - not a real CK modal deal. The one i have on me right now 94% Modal and 6% Elastane.

What is modal and why do you want it? is it like Spandex?

I would think more cotton is better for breathability.

I like stretch boxers but not so much that it feels itchy and doesn't breathe.

Costco website link states that this is a "members only" item.

Why do people like underwear with no fly? Serious question. Functionally time consuming for urinal usage.

Fewer layers of fabric over crotch = better breathability. Fewer seams = better comfort. No hole = better support and durability. Plus they look cleaner.

The only flys I like are horizontal ones like on Tommy Johns.

Accurate. I've owned both. The cheaper ones I have aren't that much different in terms of feel; they're a little less soft, but it's hard to tell without side-by-side comparison. Not sure how durable they'll be but they seem ok; possibly pilling a little more than the more expensive ones. Seems like a good value at $5/pair.

EDIT: old pair is 92% modal

I've noticed that these are Costco-specific: Made for fat guys with skinny legs (comically large waist, chicken-leg leg holes).

I only go over the fence and never through the gate so there's no need for a fly.
