Why? I read that Nair works, but people don't like it, and never understood that if you could rub a cream on each day and get rid of unwanted hair without shaving- why doesn't everyone do this?

Yes, it will. What makes you think depilatories have different mechanisms of action? Irritation regarding this chemical exposure is a function of time and the mechanical state of the skin it is applied to. Magic shave is not magic, I assure you. That said, it is a better deal given that it's not only cheaper, but sold as a dry powder (so you're not paying for water).

Yeah, I get it; I'm not advocating that people misuse the product. Nair is significantly easier to receive burns from through normal use; it's hardly a comparison.
