Qq. Batteries/tool will work with other brand batteries?
No, there no brands that share battery platforms.
Milwaukee, Ridgid, Ryobi, Craftsman, Dewalt, Metabo, Fein, Bosch, Featool, Hilti, Skil, and Makita all use unique batteries. And it's the same for the 12v systems.
But there are some 3rd party adapters. For example, I use makita tools and have a ton of makita batteries. There are a handful of ryobi tools that I also own that aren't real mission critical for me, so I use an adapter to be able to use my makita batteries in Ryobi tools. I have a Ryobi fan, inflator, air pump, lawn edger, etc. that were very cheap and work well enough for what I need them for and I can use the batteries I already have.
Whats weird to me is you try to buy into a system but it is nearly impossible to find bare tool deals. The manufacturers are always throwing in a charger and battery(ies). I'm up to 3 brands but not for lack of trying.
Yup. Just ebay lowes coupon and buy a bunch. i prefer the 20 off 100 ones. The only time ive had an issue was when i tried to use the digital copy. Manager said it must be printed.
I've saved hundreds if not over a thousand bucks with these since i started renovations on my house. break up big orders into $100 at a time. Stack that with discounted gift cards from Raise and you're golden
I bought both the Makita impact driver and drill last year at HD for $99 each. I wouldn't hesitate to buy them again at $99.... $79 is a no-brainer if you're in the market. The batteries last forever for homeowner usage. Belt hook is nice too.

At my work, Makita batteries come with Burndy crimpers but that's not really a personal tool
