No, this is not the same as the kit lens, it has vibration reduction (image stabilization) which helps a LOT when you are zoomed in all the way.

It'll work on FX (assuming your model works with AF-P) but you won't be taking advantage of the full sensor, which kinda defeats the purpose of having full frame in the first place.

With VR this lens is entirely usable handheld with steady lens even at the long end of the lens. AF-P allows you to manually use the focus ring to self-focus at any time without having to remember to flip the switch like on AF-S lenses. Photos are sufficiently sharp at any focal length especially when you factor in the price of the lens.
Great for wildlife/nature photography or something as mundane as a graduation ceremony where your subject is always so far away!
