I do too. I tried switching it the other way, but I like the way the light reflects off the ceiling and lights the bathroom better.

It all depends on the room/design. I've got vaulted ceilings 18 ft in the bathroom. I have some upward facing at symmetrical points and use them as nothing more then ambient accent lights. They can be used as vanity lights hung next to the mirror (not above) but requires another light source above it (ie recessed lights) or you'll be standing in a shadow.

I have a 5 bulb station in a bathroom. Been that way for years. Love it. No bulb glare. Soft light.
