If you want one of these you should consider the HP Spectre deal if it's still live. This processor is last gen, Spectre is 949 for Iris lake
The newer Ice Lake processors have throttling issues in the ultrabook form factor and aren't a huge upgrade over Whiskey Lake, for instance. For example, the high end HP Elitebook x360 13T with Ice Lake is only about 10% faster in testing because of throttling, according to notebookcheck reviews.

I guess for 49$ it's up to your brand choice at this point, but the graphics processing is supposedly better based on many reviews, worth the upgrade. I don't have one I'm still rocking my 2016 x360 but to each their own

I agree, the Iris plus could convince some people to spend a bit more. I wish Intel would build stronger IGPU.. Their offerings are still far too weak, especially considering the premium price points of these ultrabooks.

The Iris is cheaper, it's 930 for the same ram and HDD size, and better warranty with the refund if no damage imo
Are the new ones at Costco yet? Or do you know when they will be ?
Costco already has the new models. Example: https://www.costco.com/lg-gram-17-in.-laptop%2c-10th-gen-intel-core-i7%2c-16gb-ram%2c-512gb-ssd.product.100536334.html
Please excuse my ignorance here, I only have a very small understanding of laptops. What is it about these laptops that makes it worth the higher price? I see several laptops out there that seem like they are similar or have better specs for less. For example I see some HPs with i7 or ryzen7 or 10th gen i5 as well as 512gb ssd and 8, 12, or 16 gb of ram for around $600-700. What am I not getting, because I know it's something.

I used 17" before... imo it's pretty f awesome and I been through 20 laptops in last 3-4 years (using not owning) and i am very picky
I would personally wait - the price for 1*Z990 models would go down soon.
