I get it, but that decision has nothing to do with this being a good deal or not for most other people. Why buy anything if you can upgrade to the next best thing for 50% increase in cost? Thats how almost every product works. If the IPS monitor was $100 more then I would agree, but 50% more that's not a deal. Either way, go for it if you feel that's the better option.
You don't get the logic that many people can't justify another $300? Seriously? Honestly man this monitor is a really good one and so many people are so bent on light bleed and fairly minor things that I wonder how anything can satisfy people anymore.
"if you are spending this kind of money"
You know to a lot of people $350 is a lot of money. There's something called a budget. $600 for an UW IPS 120hz is a great price that is targeted by many.
You also talked about your 2080 that many people cannot afford. Honestly surprised you didn't say 2080 Ti, it's only $500 more than a 2080.

I can't seem to find the model number via that link is this the newer version with the nano ips stuff or the older model

nevermind I found it , it is indeed the AW3418DW model
No chance they're blowing out the new model at this price. The question is - do you really need it right now? At this price the 3418DW to me is a fantastic value.
Bought this model about a year ago for $700. It came with a visible shadow at the top of the screen. Whenever i'd place a window at the top of the screen i'd notice it. Felt like it had invisible eaves casting a shadow. Returned it to Costco. So glad I bought it from there with no hassle returns. I couldn't keep it with that shadowy (notice I didn't using glaring) an issue. For that price, it needs to be perfect.
My issue is if I'm going to spend $600 on a high end monitor, why not spend another $300 to get the (albiet small) upgrade. It wouldn't blow up my budget to just go with the upgrade but for those that $300 would be a huge ask this is a fantastic price for a great monitor

Got this as "very good" condition for less on Amazon Warehouse. I'm not optimistic but you never know!
Newer ultrawides with similar specs will definitely run you a grand or more. If you aren't a pro gamer 4ms is fine.
I did the exact same.
This would be "new" with... 3 year warranty for $680
I paid $560 for "used - very good" with apparently only 6 month warranty...
I think for the $120 it's worth the upgrade, waiting for it to arrive tomorrow so I can confirm I'm happy with it before pulling the trigger on this monitor - hopefully it isn't sold out within a couple days.

There's tons of new monitors coming out, so it might be best to wait a bit.
I'm eyeing the 4k 144hz Nano IPS from LG or their new ultrawides.
