This is a nice monitor. I bought it for $109 just before Christmas and am very happy with it. If you don't need 4K, and aren't seriously gaming, this will serve you well.
For what it's worth, I use dual HP 23.8" 1080 monitors in the office every day and this 27" when I work from home. Dual monitors obviously has an advantage, but I notice no difference in eye strain over the course of an 8 hour day.
I have a pair of similar HP 27" IPS 1080p monitors. Their narrow bezels make them great for multi monitor setups. I'm running them top and bottom with the top one flipped upside down.
Would only recommend 27" 1080p monitors if you're going to sit farther away from the screen than most people. The pixel density is just slightly too low. I would guess that most people sit about 2 feet away (like me), and at that distance I can definitely see the pixels, and the jagged text annoys me. If you sit 3 or more feet away, 27" is probably fine. Otherwise, the biggest 1080p monitor I would recommend is 25". Dell actually makes a very similar monitor called the 25er, take a look at that.
Otherwise this is probably a good monitor, I've seen it in stores and the IPS panel looks great, has good viewing angles. Another downside is that it doesn't have a DisplayLink port, which is necessary if you want to use Nvidia Gsync.

If you want to do excel or text reading 24" inch with same resolution would be sharper than 27". 27" us better for watching video but not much else.
