Speaking as someone who has admittedly owned more Bluetooth speakers than any one person should (premium and otherwise), I'm intrigued by any post for a speaker. However, I will say there are potentially better offerings available for less.
I actually just ordered a 120W Bluetooth speaker with touchscreen and two microphones for full karaoke function for $64 shipped from Sam's club auctions.
I like that this speaker has multiple functions like radio tuner to help it stand apart from some other basic Bluetooth speakers but some people will never use that. The microphone functionality is also a very specific-use functionality that may be exactly what some people are looking for.
If you only want the Bluetooth function/durability, look into the VTIN R7 on Amazon. It is also 50W and starts at $70 but practically every other week has a $20 coupon you can clip to make it $50 which is a steal. They are water resistant and support multiple paired units for surround sound. That means for $10 more, you could have stereo sound with dual 50W speakers.
Again, every speaker is different and this one has some features that may be the perfect mix for people. If you are going in just for a good sounding, high watt Bluetooth speaker, this may not be the best bang for your buck.
EDIT: I just wanted to clarify that I'm not knocking this product at all. My wife is a teacher and this would actually be perfect for her with the microphone function. I only want to add perspective for those who may only focus on the "Bluetooth speaker" aspect of the product.
Found it on amazon. It's this heavy because it uses a lead acid battery.
I bought the older model of this 100 watt 6 years ago and use it 2 times a week. Battery can last all day if not 2 days playing straight. Awesome sound too

Have this model or a its cousin from Sam club for over 4 years now. Paid around $100. Great for playing tunes from iPhone or radio by the pool. Has pullout handle and wheels. A few years ago there was a recall where they sent a replacement battery to you. Power duration is great, mic could be more powerful, but overall, a great multi-use speaker.

What would you recommend for someone needing an affordable microphone solution? PA systems are expensive, and I really only see myself using it once or twice a year.

This honestly sounds like it might be a decent product for you with how infrequently you have to use it. Another user just noted that the mic could be stronger but I can't speak to any real life experience with this product. It really depends on specific factors of how you need to use this like indoor vs. outdoor, size of room and audience, clarity required, ect. If you need something for outdoor with a large audience, a true PA system may be required. If it is something you want to use in a small auditorium or conference room, you may be more than fine with this product.
I used to use a Fender Traveller portable PA system for special events. It is going to be a jump in price but was extremely easy to use, didn't take up a ton of space, and stored rather easily. That may be more than what you might need but I am just throwing out options I've had experience with.
Sorry I can't be more help!

I bought an ion to use at the drive-ins and the radio was terrible, ended up returning it (different model). No external antenna. I know many do not use fm anymore but something to keep in mind

This denon dispatch [newegg.com]

I dont know of a louder speaker with Mic input for the money.

This Harbinger [musiciansfriend.com] adds a few more features and is a bit louder for a few more bucks on sale right now.

If you Google "Sam's club auction", there will be a quick link to their auctions page. I've listed the link below to the current auctions that are closing today. They are sporadic in what they offer but chances are typically good that if you miss out on an item, the same item is listed with another closing time so you can have multiple attempts. Just understand that any bids you submit are just the price you will pay not including tax and shipping. Those costs are shown to you after you win an auction. https://auctions.samsclub.com/auc...=1#toolbar
This is what I ordered for $64.59 after tax and shipping:
