It was only bimonthly in the first place, so they've gone from six issues annually to four. No idea if the content remains the same; they could be taking on a lot more advertising, or thinning out the articles.

Pricewise this is fantastic. Make previously was routinely $25 yearly or more.

As for the magazine itself - I stopped subscribing when they went out of biz. I'd been a subscriber essentially since the magazine was founded, before they spun off Craft.

The magazine had not suffered the fate of other "nerdy" magazines like Popular Science; it was not dumbed-down or diluted. But I found most of the projects now miss the sweet spot for me - either they're $5 and you make wind chimes from soda bottles, or it's $400 and you make your own robotic arc welder. It's also too Arduino/RPi heavy. I don't need yet another automated thingummy. The quality is fine, there just isn't a lot of variety.

For $14 it's a nice read, I guess, especially if you're new.

It is a great magazine but I heard it went "out of business" since the end of the last year, and turned out to be a quarterly publication. Just keep that in mind if you are going to subscribe in a long term.

What is the policy for issues like this at discountmagazines though?

That note should say "DiscountMags does not forcefully auto-renew magazine subscriptions." because they do push a auto renew and it's a pretty friendly one, keeps your big discount going assuming you ignore the renew offers from the publisher.

For $3.50 an issue I'll bite. I think it is good reading material for my kids and I, and if we make one project in the 4 years it will be a win.

I am able to access the digital/pdf version of every magazine that I received from my original 4 year subscription to Make from DiscountMags (starting about 3 years ago). I had to contact Make to get access but I believe this feature may have been added after they originally went out of business and came back. You might want to contact Make to verify this is the case for new subscribers as well.

Thank you! Thats great news! I used to have a digital only subscription to them, but this would be a lot cheaper if it included both!

This deal appears to be dead. It's showing up as over $30 for a year, unless I'm doing something wrong.

Deal worked for me this morning. Also heard back from Make regarding the digital PDF versions with this subscription and they said the following:
Quote :
Thank you for contacting Make magazine.

Online access would still be included with the subscription, although the downloadable PDFs are only limited to the most recent issue (this is the same if you subscribe through us directly or through a third party such as DiscountMags).

To access the digital edition, you would go to www.make-digital.com [make-digital.com], and login using your email address as both username and password. Once logged in, you can access the archives by clicking the three bars in the upper left hand corner, then selection "Contents View."

As a current print Make subscriber, I went to https://readerservices.makezine.c...bInfo.aspx and entered my subscription id including the MK letters..... # MK####### (MK with six digits) and my zipcode code.

I then filled out my personal info (phone + email , etc) I was then told that my digital subscription details would be sent by email.

I found their email in my GMAIL spam folder. It looks like this......

Dear XXX XXX,
