This sounds so cool for new technology, but SanDisk?

Remember that wifi flashdrive they made? I never saw a single person use it in my life.

Very cool, and also very pricey

Neat concept but if either one of those things starts having issues (the wireless charging or the storage) you're out a lot of money compared to if you would have purchased them separately.

I have 2 of those and that number is exponentially more times than I have used them.

If it was on a stand to hold the phone vertical I would be in.

Sorry to be dumb or slow, but this anecdote went completely over my head. Are you saying you own this (the OP) and have used it less than twice? Or have used the wifi flash drive once? Someone help me :/

Is this worth getting for the iPhone XS Max?

Sounds random to put a charger pad and hard drive together

It's not random. It takes time to backup your phone. Putting it in the charger is an excellent auto-magic application. In fact it almost makes you wonder why every wireless charger doesn't have something like this. However, IMO it would be better to let the user replace the flash (ie a plugin module).

So how does this back up the phone? Wifi? BT? NFC? If it's not NFC (probably isn't as NFC is miserably slow) , then I don't actually have to have the phone on the charger to work right? So they just put to random things in one box for the sake of it?
Just put 128gb in a wireless mouse. Or a mouse with a charge pad on its back. Or maybe a BT speaker with backup and wifi and charger!

WiFi flash drive? You just plug a flash drive into most routers...

Because you can't backup iPhone directly to a time machine.

It looks to be a decent idea for Apple users that don't have memory card options or those who are fearful of cloud storage.
BUT according to a review...
"it doesn't seem like there's a USB-A or C port to get data out of the charger once it's backed up. You'll need to use Wi-Fi to restore it or transfer"
Decent idea horribly implemented... pretty much the gist of SanDisk innovation. :-(
