Yes the offer adds the Gift card to the cart automatically, so these are like normal target GC without expiry. To explain it how it works, say you buy 2 eligible items which costs $30+$25=$55, so the items charges will be $22+$18+$15(GC)=$55 before tax and GC is marked not-returnable, so if you return any item they will refund $22 or $18. Say after you order second item goes oos then you still pay $22+$15(GC), the GC is emailed just after one of the item is picked up/shipped. If both the item goes oos, then order is cancelled and results in no charge, hopefully this is helpful and I'm not boring the shoppers
I used to pick up Bounty paper towels on deals like this from Target using the previous gift cards. Not to long ago you could receive the $10 (Bounty) + $15 gift card (household) on the $50 household deals. Target has wizened up to that, and so have I. Now I grab them from Sam's, 12 = 30 regular sheet for $20.98 + tax. Then I'm not sitting on Target gift cards waiting for the next deal.

quick question for those in the know: do target bonus gift cards have an expiration date?

for example, i got in on the last deal and got a $10 gift card (loaded into my account) from i think $50 spend. does that $10 ever expire?

thanks!

In certain States like Missouri, it's illegal for the GC to expire.

It's not really a bonus gift card. If you spent $50 exactly and returned everything you'd only receive $35 back.
You didn't answer the question the asked and even made up your own scenario where you tried to return everything and keep the gift card balance.
