Watched a video review that said you needed a TV stand wider than the TV as it can't hang off the edge due to the floating glass touching the bottom. Is that actually true or can I put the 65 on a slightly smaller stand where it would hang off 2 inches on either side?

I don't see an issue with 2 inch on both side. It'll just look a little bit weird IMHO
