Over the past couple months there has been a massive influx of Metabo crap getting to the front page with barely any thumbs up. Hitachi rebranded and are now pushing all their products hard as Metabo and is being plastered all over Slickdeals. Like, it's not hard to get a grinder for 30 bucks. That's regular price for a cheap grinder. This is all paid advertising.
Attached 3-month price history... basically showing this is a cyclical price between $39 and $30, with the price being $30 from Feb 1-22

Edit: marking price context as unhelpful on a deal forum ...
Metabo HPT tools are literally rebranded Hitachi tools. Search for "metabo HPT" and the first google result title is "Metabo HPT formerly Hitachi Power Tools" from metabo-hpt.com.

The quality is the same as the previous Hitachi brand tools - they come off the same assembly line except with different lipstick.

Anyone know what the lock clasps on the hard case looks like? Are those durable clasps with retainer pins or are those with dangling thin plastic which break off after a week?

Based on other Hitachi tools i have they just slide to lock shut. I'll go take a picture and update the post.

Just bought today at Lowe's of Leesburg VA. Price on shelf was $49.99, but it rang up $29.97. Did not receive military discount with the special pricing.

Just realized that there are a lot of grinders at this price level at Amazon. Have an HF brand and can't justify buying another...wouldve though if I had a big garage.

Lowes didn't say nothing about warranty, except for the 1 year. So is only the 5 year warranty with Amazon?

Is better to spend the 50 and bought this one?

This isn't the real metabo. This is Hitachi, which is probably better than harbor freight, but not sure how much.
