Last time this was on sale for $1250, I wanted to wait and see if the Canon version would also go on sale, but it hasn't. I wonder why only the E-Mount goes on sale.

I use both Sony and Canon, and would love to be able to use this lens on my 5D Mark IV, but at this price, I think I'll just make the sacrifice and use it only on my a7RIV.

"Don't need right now" means that the person has a tight budget but would like to buy it. We all have different situations.. I would like to buy it, but I recently bought 85 1.4 and can't clarify the need for myself

Back when I was blowing all my money in 2019 this would have been on my must have list. Excellent price for this lens...just cant justify it now. Gotta sell off all my old Canon gear first.

I have the Nikon 105/1.4E and I played with the Sigma one. You'll like the Nikon one more even though it's a bit more expensive. The Sigma one has an oversized front element and is more front-heavy.

You could possibly find the105/1.4E used for about $1,100-1,400 though.

I owned this beast for Sony. It's incredible, but good lord is it large. It's just unnecessary for the focal length, especially when you look at the Nikon 105 1.4 equivalent. It really is a chunky boi. I ended up going back to the 85/135 combo

The reason the front element is so large for this focal length is because Sigma believes that there should be no compromises in order to get the best image quality. This is why Sigma's Art lenses are huge and heavy. The larger the element, the sharper the lens will be and this 105mm 1.4 is proof of that.

Unless you're worried about spaces too tight for the 135mm GM, I'd go with that. It's relatively small and light, the AF is great and the quality is fantastic.

The 105mm is a very particular-use beast of a lens. Great for portraits, but not nearly as responsive as the GM, and I'd really hate to lug it around all day

I wonder if they will make a true mirrorles 105 just like the 35 1.2. This feels like an adapted dslr lens
