If this saw has the capacity to cut what someone needs to cut, why would they want to spend more money on a larger, heavier, and less accurate sliding version?

Yes, this will work. It only has one bevel so you'll have to learn to put up with it but it isn't a deal breaker. You'll be paying twice the price for one that can bevel left and right. I would recommend this for an average home owner.
Also, you can look up videos on YouTube on how to cut certain angles that seem impossible with this saw.

Bought one. These weren't flying off the shelves at my local store.

Military discount didn't stack.

Seems like a janky product from all the reviews.

Agreed. I got the Hitachi version of this saw a couple years ago for a project and quickly realized that I should have gotten a sliding miter saw.

Ended up having to cut my losses and bought the cordless makita sliding miter saw. To the people saying they're too hard to move around, that's what rolling saw stands are made for so I don't really see the merit on those complaints. I have the Hercules from harbor freight and its great.
That's like 6 times the price of this unit. Why do people come into these threads to poopoo budget options and the suggestion is always "oh just spend an exorbitant amount more for a better option". Well it better be better for that price, but I'm not in the market for a $500 saw. I'm in the market for a $90 saw.

I was warning against having to spend $90 cnd realizing you need better down the road and then having to pay a couple hundred dollars again to upgrade. It's cheaper in the long run to just buy a sliding miter.

And the makita is just what I got. There are plenty of other cheaper options out there for sliding miters.

Even still you are probably looking at $300 for a sliding saw with all of the inherent negatives of a sliding saw. For the price of a sliding saw you can buy this saw, and a table saw and have a way more diverse set of tools. I've found that I don't need anything besides my circular saw and a miter saw. If I run into a crazy scenario where I absolutely need one I think Home Depot rents them for like $40. Just not worth it for me or a lot of other people.

That's like, your opinion bro. I just know when I bought the Hitachi I wish someone would have told me about the benifits of a sliding miter saw so here I am giving that advice.

BTW, no $200 table saw is worth having.

You don't want slide unless you need it, because they're much heavier, and most of the time, you'd want to carry it outside because it makes so much dust even with vac-connected.

The carrying it outside part is important.

I have a big 12" dewalt slide, but I never use it because it's so damn heavy.

This 10" non slide is much lighter and easier to bring in and out.

There's the 7-1/4" type saws too, and they're even lighter, but if you only want to buy 1 saw, get the 10".

This is perfect advice.

The ONLY benefit of a slider is larger cut capacity, but if you aren't mitering bigger stuff that doesn't matter...and there are plenty of negatives.

How do you know what type of project you will be doing in the future? I went in with that same mindset then ended up getting screwed down the road when I needed to stack pieces on top of each other to cut them all exactly the same size. Upgraded to a sliding miter and have come across numerous needs that make it well worth the upgrade. I will never go back to a standard.

I think yall are seriously overestimating the size difference. I have a small, 1 car garage as my work space and the saw on the stand takes up literally the same space as my Hitachi

Maybe not $200 msrp, but that's entirely subjective. Also, that's why I use slick deals.

I agree with your sentiment, hence I haven't yet purchased a saw because a decent one is over $300, but I'd rather wait and have one that does everything than to buy it and have 2 saws in my garage, or just never get the one I want, so I wait...
