Product Name: | Metabo HPT 10-in 15-Amp Single Bevel Compound Miter Saw |
Product Description: | The Hitachi C10FCG 15 Amp 10 In. compound miter saw is ideal for trim carpenters, framers, and woodworkers who demand precision, reliability and versatility on the job. The 15 amp motor generates a no-load speed of up to 5,000 RPM for making crosscuts and miters with ease, even on the toughest cutting jobs. The C10FCG is lighter than its predecessor (model C10FCE2) weighing just 24.2 lbs. for easier transport. It’s the lightest 10 In. compound miter saw in its class to date. It has a large table with a vice clamping system to hold your workpiece safely in place. The thumb-actuated positive miter stops allow for simple miter adjustments. The bevel has a range of 45-degrees to the left to provide clean and accurate bevel cuts. The C10FCG has a large extended flip fence which rises to 4 In. to allow for accurate cutting of large workpieces. To keep your work space clean and safe, a dust collector attachment is included. It is covered by Hitachi's 5-year warranty. |

Depends on your setup. Sliding has such a long back. It's difficult against a wall. But I would go 12-in for that
The carrying it outside part is important.
I have a big 12" dewalt slide, but I never use it because it's so damn heavy.
This 10" non slide is much lighter and easier to bring in and out.
There's the 7-1/4" type saws too, and they're even lighter, but if you only want to buy 1 saw, get the 10".
This is a good price.
Agreed. I got the Hitachi version of this saw a couple years ago for a project and quickly realized that I should have gotten a sliding miter saw.
Ended up having to cut my losses and bought the cordless makita sliding miter saw. To the people saying they're too hard to move around, that's what rolling saw stands are made for so I don't really see the merit on those complaints. I have the Hercules from harbor freight and its great.
Yes, picked up the previous version of this model about four years ago for roughly the same price and have done several DIY/woodcutting jobs around the house.
For example, I swapped in a Diablo blade with high tooth count for moldings (baseboards) and it worked great. It's also more convenient for cross cutting small quantities than my table saw.

From March 2018 Press Release
Source: BUSINESS WIRE [businesswire.com]
Hitachi Power Tools today announced a name change from Hitachi Power Tools to Metabo HPT for its full line of power tools ... "The legacy of our brand has been built over many decades and will exceed all expectations as our name changes to Metabo HPT," said Joe Leffler, Sr. Vice President of Sales, Marketing, General Management & Board Member, Hitachi Power Tools. "Nothing will change about our brand except the name." Products will retain current brand identity: same color, same model numbers, same warranties and the same battery interchangeability. They will be made by the same people, in the same factories, with the same specifications..." It is important to note that as Hitachi Power Tools changes their name in the North American market to Metabo HPT, the original Metabo brand headquartered in West Chester, PA will remain. These two distinct brands, Metabo HPT and Metabo, are part of the parent company, Hitachi Koki Co., Ltd (scheduled to change the name to Koki Holdings Co., Ltd in June 2018) that partnered with leading global investment firm KKR from April 2017.
Everything else works as any other saw, nothing remarkable there, but it's a saw, it cuts wood.
What about reliability? Cutting wood once versus reliably cutting wood is a different story.
Professional builders aren't looking at this tier of tool.
