AirThings has AirThings Wave Plus Smart Air Quality Monitor (Limited Edition Black) on sale for $139. Shipping is free.

Thanks to community member yslsd for finding this deal.

Includes the following sensors:
  • Radon
    • You can't see or smell it, but long-term exposure to this radioactive gas is the top cause of lung cancer in non-smokers.
  • Carbon Dioxide (CO2)
    • When it reaches high levels indoors, carbon dioxide (CO2) can cause poor sleep and trouble concentrating.
  • Temperature
    • Temperature is not just a matter of comfort, it can negatively affect sleep quality, mood, and alertness.
  • Airborne chemicals (VOCs)
    • Volatile organic compounds (VOCs) are airborne chemicals emitted by everyday items - many are harmless but some are toxic.
  • Air pressure
    • Changes in air pressure affect radon levels and, for some, they can trigger headaches, joint stiffness and pain.
  • Humidity
    • High humidity promotes mold growth and aggravates asthma symptoms, while too-dry air can lead to skin and throat irritation.

I got a couple of these a few months ago, and it made it realize I had a pretty serious radon problem that needed mitigation. These are a steal at this price.

Use one of these to monitor the radon level in my basement. Works fine for that; however, do not buy if you live in a dry area. Where I live (in the desert apparently), I am below the threshold humidity level. As a result, I am constantly getting alerts that I have poor air quality. There is no way to customize thresholds or select specific alerts.

I hoped it also had PM2.5 but the much more expensive View Plus is the only one that has that. PM2.5 can be found in other standalone sensors so I guess this is a good deal for all the other sensor capabilities you can't find.

You'd have to setup Home Assistant to 'fuse' all the separate data and if you had a multifloor scenario. Hope the View Plus comes back on sale.

Snagged it. Good deal for use in a basement where for me pm2.5 less important. I already have the View Plus, which I do like. This will serve as a good complement. Thanks OP!

Thanks, I've had this on my list to add a second one to the house (one in basement - one upstairs). I was thinking about paying full price a few days back, but I saw this occasionally goes on sale, so thanks for saving me and the rest of us a bit of cash.

Does your local Fire DP or other service allow you to rent something like this?

That's what I'd try first.

How does this compare to that google crap they sell?
I think the Google one is just a smoke detector with carbon monoxide monitor and I got the Amazon ones too but those are useless and probably very inaccurate. So I mostly rely on these now.

I live in an apartment in NYC, should I buy one of these? Or is it mainly for homes and basements?

I'd just get a separate smoke detector and a humidity/temp sensor in your case, not this.

Also, my smart thermostat shows temp and humidity already, so many can probably just get the smoke detector/carbon monoxide if you need it.

I got the View Plus in the last deal and it has PM2.5 monitor

How much was it on the deal price? Also, it says in the description of the View Plus that connects via "WiFi or Airthings SmartLink (with Hub)." Do you know if it stores data in the cloud?

These are great if you already have a hub. Without the hub, you lose a lot of functionality (the app will only work when you walk near the device via Bluetooth... there's no way to access anything from outside your home)
